Getting the rug pulled from under your feet...
On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd say my resistance to change is probably 7. I'm not a big fan of change. I love the status quo.. (there are certain exceptions) Anyway there's major re-shuffling/re-org at my office now. Quite a few people are leaving, and there is a major re-distribution of work. People getting "demoted" of sorts. And I'm at the receiving end of the work re-distribution.. One of my section managers came to talk to me about who I wanted to report to come next week as part of the re-org. There are a possible 4 choices. 1 is a wild card, which is out. The other 3.. I really don't know. I just want out. But getting out seems so hard. If I go now, I'll pretty much condemn the people left to die (and these are the people I consider friends). They need to hire like loads more people and asap.
Anyway I'm just going to chill out this week and enjoy for now. Swee Lee has 50% sale, I'm getting free movie tickets. Hope the placebo effect works...

"We don't really hate the job.."
Was talking about how the job sucks over dinner with my colleague (usual conversation for us), when he said " I just don't like the job scope and the nature of the job, but I like the people." To which I said "So basically you don't like the job.." Which is true. And as the law of averages would have it, as much as I wanted to talk to my boss about my intentions of quitting this week, everything literally went wrong. The odds were just stacked against me. Just thankful it's the weekend now. Anything else can just wait. The office can get it's claws into me on Monday.

Arowanna Turbo Lim Ah Seng...
Has anyone here been following the exploits of this radio advert character? What began as a side gag has now become sort of a mini radio ad cult figure. He was first a nameless fish shop owner in an advert that was advertising for some new condo or other which was supposedly so big that the owner of the condo could buy this really large fish tank which he then ordered from Arowanna Turbo Lim Ah Seng.. or ATLAS for short.. hmm.. interesting.. the acronym spells out something.. wonder if it's intentional.
Then he appeared in the subaru impreza ads, bothering people to try out the S204 or what not. That has happened for 3 subaru ads already. Quite cool. Wonder if they will evolve the character to advertise for other products.

En Bloc Sale: Singapore's version of Survivor
With the recent En Bloc sale madness that has gripped the country, it has brought out the worst of people's natures. The desire to "get rich quick" has become much more evident. Pitting neighbour against neighbour. Just heard a story of the tenants in the houses in front of me. All voted yes but one. But due to a majority vote, this person is now out of a home. How is this fair? I've always felt that the majority is not always right (in fact wrong most of the time, look at our last general elections.) In this case if there are people who do not want to move, I don't think it's right to evict them. As for the survivor element, it's how people will form alliances either to move out or not. And as long as there are enough people for either side, it will be in a stalemate until someone caves. And I may be facing a similar situation soon, with my maggot like neighbours...

Have you left anything (behind)?
This was a phrase that was mentioned by the speaker in church today. Was quite amusing when he mentioned signs in toilets having this phrase cause.. isn't the purpose of going to the toilet to leave something behind? :D If you don't get it.. well it's ok.
Anyway the current countdown stands at slightly over 10 months at my current job. Current target (optimistic one anyway) is to tender by 1st July. Which means my last day will be 1st August. 1 year and 1 day since I joined. I should try to find an opportune time to inform my managers about this plan also, so that they can find a replacement for me.
Just hope I can survive that long. This month's going to be extremely long and painful.
