4th time Celebrating Vesak Day!
On my way back home after an extremely long day at work doing un-necessary things, I was reflecting on tomorrow and how for most of my life, it wasn't a real holiday because it always coincided with the school hols. The exceptions being NS and now that I'm working. So effectively, I've only had Vesak Day holidays 4 times my entire life.
On a sidenote (Stealing something from what Kyne said previously): The clean room smocks are really misleading. Sometimes you can't even tell the gender of the people inside. I accidently mistook a guy for a lady today. Only by hearing the voice did I know. But these few days have made me realised that one thing (if not the only thing) I'll miss when I finally leave this place (not sure when yet) is that I'll miss the friends that I've made here.

Taking a seemingly dumb idea, and running with it..
Someone has finally done what almost everyone and their pet dog has been saying for years. Either to open a shop called anywhere (preferably a restaurant) or come up with a dish/drink called anything/whatever. Whoever is behind this has guts. I've seen the ads and the product. I don't really feel inspired to buy it, it's just a novelty. Wonder how long this product will last.
On a related note: Has anyone seen the ads at the bus stop? One of them looks really sleazy. I mean kinda like the adverts that warn about the dangers of having casual sex and getting HIV. I think the slogan is "Promise me anything and something or other"
And because Asians (especially Chinese) are kings of piracy, be ready for the wave of shops with similar naming conventions.

The brilliant criminal mind at work...
Today's Straits Times did a cover page feature on drink driving, something which is currently the conversational topic of choice these days. Over the weekend police check points were set up and 1 out of 4 people were caught with their alcohol levels above the legal limit. The point which I found interesting was about this guy who was with his companion. He was driving the car and he had been drinking. When he saw the road block, he must have thought to himself : I shall swap seats with my companion here who hasn't been drinking all night, that should fool the police. He probably patted himself on the back too. Anyway he got caught cause the police saw him swapping seats. The point I would like to make is this : IF you had a sober companion who can drive with you, why are you driving in the first place? And why is the dumb woman letting him drive ? Obviously she's a few bricks short of a load as well. Government's going to be collecting lots of fines these few weeks. It seems all the idiots are coming out of the wood work.

Jessica Biel is not chinese. She may kick butt and all in Blade Trinity, but she can't possibly play Chun Li. I mean there's one major requirement that she doesn't fill. Being Chinese. Can't hollywood do something typically racially stereotypical and hire like Lucy Liu or Zhang Zhiyi (Zhiyi Zhang to them).. What's next.. Justin Timberlake as Ryu?

Black is emo
Black must make people emo cause spiderman/peter parker got extremely emo after coming in contact with the black constume. But other than the emo moments, the movie was quite cool. I think they should end the series here though, rather than have episodes 4,5 and 6.. this isn't star wars after all.
Anyway it was so weird to see Topher Grace (Eric of that 70's show fame) acting.. well Eric like in a more jerky way. The church scene in particular was hilarious.. Also Bryce Dallas Howard was lovely as Gwen Stacy. Just that screen time wise, it seems there were too many characters to be developed. Interesting point to note though: Bryce Dallas Howard is a red head in real life who is starring as a blonde, Kirsten Dunst is a blonde playing a red head.
Anyway one summer blockbuster down, a few more to go. Transformers, Fantastic 4, Simpsons. If work will spare me that long..
