Local Rumblings..
A couple of interest things have been taking place in Singapore these past 2 weeks or so. Firstly is the age old debate about cars and how we should all take the public transport to minimise the traffic. Several good points were brought up like how if the system was more efficient (E.g having a direct bus that would take one from let's say woodlands/marsiling to like bedok). Also how the people who are advocating public transport aren't really using public transport like the ministers.. That's a really big point of contention.. at least for me. The vibe the ministers give me when they talk about this is something along the lines of "You all should take public transport to make our roads less congested". Now it's 'You all' and not 'We all'. Very Animal Farm like.
The other rambling is one directed to this girl who is supposedly from RGS/RJC or what not about some insensitive criticism she made and to make things worse, she's the daughter of a minister. I bet she's regretting her words now. There are now at least 2 sites dedicated to making a mockery of her.

"Cleaning in Progress"
It's quite uncanny that the toilets in my office are always being cleaned when I need to use the facilities. And not only me. I think quite a few of my colleagues also experience this. We walk to the toilet in our office then realise it's being cleaned so we walk the other way. Makes us all look rather daft. Somehow it seems that all our biological clocks have sync'd up with the cleaning of the toilet.
Anyway it's been quite a good 4 days of rest for me. Other than one event where work called me yesterday, things seem to have gone quite smoothly. Been watching quite a bit of shows which I downloaded and also stuff on BBC entertainment. Another few shows to recommend. For people that liked the movies "Meet the Parents" and "Meet the Fockers" the show is "Worst week of my life". About the trails that a man goes thru the 7 days or the week before his wedding. Everything that can go wrong goes wrong, and he's the kind of guy who just wants to do the right thing but somehow messes up. Very Ben Stiller like. Another cool show is "My Family". Also on BBC. It's one of those dysfunctional family based comedies.

4 days of (hopeful rest)
Yay, today begins my first long weekend from work. Feels good.. although I did just wake up at 650am. Had this nagging doubt which led to me realising that I forgot to raise 1 piece of fairly crucial paper work yesterday evening before I left the office. Anyway, managed to get it done (hopefully correctly) via remote access of my office terminal. Technology rocks!.. and sucks at the same time.. haha.. depending on how you want to see it.
Yesterday was my worst/hardest working day at work ever.. simultanoeously having to focus on 3 lots at once.. thankfully my mentor was helping my by doing a lot of the leg work while I was raising the annoying paperwork.. It's quite hard to get approval for paperwork the day before a PH as most of the people will be on leave.. And it's even more annoying when people push up the dateline twice in the same day.. in fact 3 times in less than 12 hrs.. haha.. Crazy crazy people. Well this is my first major challenge at work. Hopefully I didn't mess up, else, well I'll be back in the unemployment queue.. Then it'll be super long weekend!! haha..

Tv recommendation
I have a tv show to recommend to you tv addicts. And it's called "Heroes". It's similar in tone to the movie "Unbreakable". For those that liked the movie, you will love this tv show. It's about a group of people from all over the world who wake up one day realising that they have abilities. And the story is about how they will eventually meet up to prevent a major catastrophe.

Talk, my dear, is cheap..
North Korea has done it. Nuclear testing. And what does the rest of the world do beside posture? Write "strongly worded memos". Singapore sent one to Pyong Yang. I can imagine it went something like this. "What you are doing is dangerous/unsafe to the region. Stop what you are doing now." Or what Singapore? They have a 1.2 million strong army. We have at best 100 thousand. And now they have nuclear capabilities. Singapore isn't the only one that is guilty of paying lip service. Lots of countries nowadays do that. Condemn acts of terrorism and then stopping at that. Say what you like about America, but at least they act. United Nations, Singapore etc.. all just love to make speeches.

The New Adventures of Batam and Robin
It is very important to check your spelling before you send out a mail, especially a mass mail to everyone in the company. In my company, each fab is named after a superhero. My fab is named 'Batman' or so I thought.. might be Batam.. typos are just so annoying. Teh gramar nazi in me iz so anoyed...
