Tibetan Highway Robbery
There's this tibetan restaurant that just opened near my place so today a couple of CG guys went down to try because in Martin's words "we should try before it closes in 1 week's time". So we were greeted by 2 ladies dressed in what I assume to be tibetan attire or south korean..looks similar to me. Anyway so we sit down. Now the setting is like a normal coffeeshop with air con. So we were quite shocked with the prices. 10 beef balls for $80.00. Was wondering if they didn't convert the price correctly at first. A bowl of rice (normal size) is $1.00. Porridge is $3.00. Sweet Potato porridge is also $3.00. I'd understand for some of the dishes if they imported stuff from Tibet.. but porridge at that price? They flew the rice in from tibet ah? Singapore got rice what.. And the funny thing is that there were at least 2 other groups eating at that restaurant. Which led me to conclude that there are either a) a lot of tibetan expats being paid lots of money b) the shop is a front for some money laundering business.

Dates, times and events.
What makes one day different from another? What makes one day the best day of your life and what makes the very next day the worst day of your life? Sometimes we have days coming together to form a steady stream of good days. Where everything goes smoothly and seems to be leading to another high the next day, but somehow the entire house of cards comes tumbling down the very next day. Or how you finally see the light at the end of a tunnel after a consecutive stream of bad days.

I've had my share of both before. The former kind of sucks really badly. Like getting punched in the stomach and having all the air knocked out of you. The latter is like a glass of ice cold coke after being away at field camp.

Anyway, no this isn't leading to how this season has been for me. It's been a mix of ups and downs. So I'm never really set up for a fall or anything. And I guess that's all we can hope for some times. Not the highs and lows, but just everything in between.

Let's destroy another aspect of my childhood..

For those not aware, the image on the right is actually how the artwork for Archie comics will be changing. Characters will be drawn more real life like, in order to make Archie and gang more realistic. The complain some people have made on forums is how the females look anorexic. My complain is just that Archie has always been to be simplistic. It's not the artwork. It's the innocence and humour (although slap stick at times). It's a for all ages read. Who knows what other changes will follow...

Doing a double take..
Was driving home the other day when I heard an advert on the radio for the Salvation Army's Christmas time collection. They were asking for basic necessities such as rice, cooking oil and there was one which stumped me for a while.. "halal catfood". Now this got me thinking.. halal catfood? Why would the Salvation Army want halal catfood? Also why would there be halal catfood ? Then I realized, they meant "can food"..

Also I learnt several things today while eating breakfast with Dorothea. 1) Lizards can fly and are miniature dinosaurs. 2) Fruits eaten after dinner is bad for you, because they digest faster and can ferment in our stomachs. Dorothea's like a walking documentary channel. :D
