Amplfier:1 Me:0
Lecturer briefed us on the project today.. though not really briefing.. he was more like telling us what to do after we have designed the amplifier and not how to start.. sigh.. not good.. not good at all..
Anyway must count the blessings of the day I guess.. met Michelle for lunch in arts where I proceeded to think of weird fruit juice/milk shakes that could be created.. my weirdest was Celery Milkshake.. Michelle topped it with Yam Milk shake.. ugh..
Also ended in my philo essay. Thanks to all who had to put up with my weird family related qns and stuff.. hoping to get at least 20 for the essay.. oh let the marking be generous and merciful and etc etc.. heh
Another good thing is no school tomorrow for once cause all my boat project mates all got test to study for this week.. which is good.. for me maybe not so good for them.. and the project.. ugh.. this week got individual component presentation.. But tomorrow will complete revisions for soci mid sem this week.. then back to amplifier.. darn it. .

If the world was being entirely truthful with us (Part 2)
Possible tv show taglines:
Survivor : Pulau Tekong - not really the best season we've had, in fact probably the worst we've had.
Amazing Race 7: Watch Rob and Amber. Who cares about the rest...
American Idol (recent elimination): And the 4 contestants to be eliminated are.. what the .. they made zero impression that we didn't even know they were on the show...
Mr Bean (tv show): We've shown it so many times already, but there's like at least 50 people who haven't seen it more than 10 times yet so we should STILL show it.

If the world was being entirely truthful with us,
then this might be some of the changes we would see
The actual 7 tips of highly successful people
7) Inherit 10 million dollars and tell people you earned it, and write a book saying how you did it.
6) Make people feel inadequate but tell them you have the solution and make them buy a book you wrote about it.
5) Mix around a lot, surely one of the people you rub shoulders with today will turn out to be a success one day. Then you convince them that their success was partly due to you and write a book about it.
4) Get said successful people from point 5 to endorse your book. People will buy things if its endorse by celebrities or highly successful people even if its dumb. Look at Slim 10, and the whole stretch of Katong Laksa stalls. (All the stalls there are endorsed by 1 tv show, eating guide etc or other)
3) Be unscrupulous. Its ok to lie in your book. In fact people often want to be lied too.
2) Don't buy books that tell you how to be successful, write books that tell people how to be successful. People will inadvertantly buy your book thus making you a success (people are real suckers that way)
1) Highly successful people don't make such silly lists.. haha..

Feeling quite pent up and frustrated..
It's probably due to the fact that I have 1 more project to do that I haven't started cause I haven't the faintest idea where or how to start. It's like taking a stab in the dark and moving from there hoping I'm doing the right thing.. quite dumb really. Anyway will post some light readings to lighten things up..
THE TAILOR CHRONICLES (PART 1)
Went to the tailor yesterday to get my suit made. Yes the suit that I need to be wearing for my sister's wedding. Sigh.. anyway its quite interesting cause this is the tailor my dad goes to but since the guy retired already, he's been working from his flat on a sort of ad hoc basis? Well yeah so he's a nice old guy, friendly and all.. so its all good.. he let's me choose the fabric.. (seriously now.. what do I know abt fabric? its cloth.. ) anyway I chose black cause well it goes with anything.. Had to make 1 full suit, extra pants for the suit (cause it seems the pants wear out first.. go figure), another pair of pants of a different colour (dark grey, yes I lack originality) and 3 long sleeve shirts. Here comes the fun bit.. he took my measurements.. haha.. man it was hilarous.. he took the waist and said, "cannot make so small, won't look nice, make it a bit bigger" and also said "you don't exercise right?" .. haha.. anyway I'm supposed to go there again this coming Saturday for first fitting and bring him a shirt and a pair of pants that I wear so I can tell him how I want the shirt and pants done.. and what I don't like abt my exisiting shirt and pants so he can make sure it doesn't happen in the pair he makes.. also he takes great pride in his work.. seriously.. this is a good thing.. with so many things being mass produced these days, its rare to see ppl take such pride in their work and craft.. I'll rather support people like him than those blood sucking capitalist anyday.. hehe.. (I sound so socialist. jialat later kenna arrested for having communist sentiments..)

Today is the last day of my break
Well symbolically anyway.. realised alot of things in life are symbolic.. something is a symbol of something blah blah blah.. giving us a 4 day break is symbolic.. whether u can enjoy or not is something else, what other things in life are symbolic.. Singapore has a lot of symbolic things I think..COE is symbolic.. its a piece of paper that tells ppl that u are entitled to buy a car.. its a symbol of car buying entitlement.. or (that we are dumb enough to pay money for paper that has no intrinsic value) the powers that be in Singapore are quite smart.. they create a commodity then give it artificial value so that everyone bo pian must get..
Now ah with the casino debate they quite smart.. (this is a theory I came up with instead of doing work) they know that singaporeans of late quite aimless.. no political desires and stuff and usually very bo chup..so they try to build up some "issues" by throwing this to the public though personally I think they know what they are going to do already.. seriously, if they really wanted the public's opinion right, they should hold a referendum.. then everyone will vote whether they want it or not. Yes its a new word I learnt while studying Soci.. its basically all those of voting age deciding on an issue. If they really wanted to know how we felt, they would hold one.. think this one is to .. what's the word.. give us the feel that we have a say in it.. but after all its symbolic right?

1) Finalise Philo essay
2) Do research on Atomic Force Microscope
3) Code transmitter portion of boat
4) Design an amplifier that amplifies a signal more than 8000 times the original signal
5) Study for Soci mid term
Of which I have completed 1 and 2. Now doing no.5.. And I have to go to school for 1 hr tomorrow and got project meeting on Thursday... which means from 10 -6 probably (optimistically.. )

Now that all's said and done, what the hell... when or at what age does one decide that public toilet cubicle doors are optional? They don't bother to lock their doors when they take a whizz.. what the.. just because you are feeling super liberal doesn't mean we have to blind ourselves because of your freedom to express yourself..we don't want to open a door and be blinded by.. ugh some low budget porn (for lack of a better choice of phrase.. this just sounds funnier). This is the 3rd time this has happened to me.. I mean how much time is needed to lock the cubicle door? Twice in NUS engine toilet and once today in Parkway... morons.. lock the !%^&& door.. Keep Singapore beautiful man..

Essay almost done..
Just need to think 1 last part thru. I need help with this people.. Basically how do you argue the family as an end in itself? I've done the family as a means to an end which is quite simple. E.g. family ensures children (in general) grow up to be normal and not dysfunctional, financial security, companionship etc etc. But how to argue family as an end in itself? I keep tripping over this point.

Stranger in a strange world
That's how I felt doing my group project with 3 complete strangers in a place that I wasn't familiar with. 3 female members on more or less different wavelengths from me in Far East Plaza (a place where the young kids hang out).. We hung out at Gelare eating and observing the youths around us at the basement of Far East Plaza. (Note: Gelare no longer offers free water.. stingy !#$%) Anyway was weird at first cause 2 of the members know each other so they were talking to each other .. I just rode on their tailcoats till the observation part began.. it was quite interesting. 1 member had a hypothesis of escalator people (which she kept saying elevator ppl).. Another one observed ppl dynamics in 3 groups. Singles, couples and groups. Another one was observing members in big groups with leaders and stuff ( I think.. can't really remember).. and me? I had to observe this group of 3 girls sitting at a table. It was weird. They were there for at least an hour.. they were talking quite a bit when we arrived, then suddenly they went quiet and started stoning. One stared into space, 2 played with their phones.. no conversation for at least 20 min.. then later 2 went to buy food. When they came back with food, they started talking again.. The members of my group said that that is an exception since they usually never run out of things to talk about (which I would also assume). Actually I was also observing the group dynamics within my group at the same time.. haha.. 1 member reminded me of Amanda Lau in terms of mannerism and speech. Another one was a female slacker (self proclaimed.. and she loves salt and salty food... shocking ain't it? ) and another was the more dominant female leader type.. Man soci is hard..

I loathe Projects!
Meet-ups are almost impossible, and sometimes so rush because of that. Have a presentation due this coming thursday and the group hasn't met up yet. Now still trying to arrange a meet-up time. Sigh.. had to even install that accursed MSN for it...

Yet another picture. The 3 smaller fishes u see at the right are his food. The tilapia Lyndon gave me

Must watch classic movie.
Was watching "The Godfather" last night while attempting to write my Philo essay. First show that I watch on Cinemax after getting it for almost 2 months. But it started really late.. think after spiderman which was on AXN.. and it lasted till like 3am.. but was worth it. Excellent show. At the heart of it, its really a family show. (As in a show about families, not a show for families) :D

Interesting Reunion Dinner
We had our reunion dinner at a restaurant as it has been our tradition for almost 8 years or so now I think.. anyway the food was so so.. quite tasteless and all.. but the most interesting thing was the dessert. In the menu it said seasonal dessert, guess what it was ? Ice-cream cones.. yes.. our dessert was ice-cream. It was a chinese restaurant.. this could be the start of a new trend.

Interesting new sensations
Went to my dentist yesterday which resulted in me experiencing 2 new sensations. 1 was the effect of novocaine. For the uninformed, novocaine is a numbing drug.. kinda local anesthesia for gums. Anyway I needed that cause the dentist found the start of a cavity between my wisdom tooth and molar, so he decided to fix it before it got worse, so he gave me novocaine. The syringe was quite interesting. The tip could be bent. For those hard to reach angles.. like Oral B toothbrushes.. haha.. anyway he injected 4 areas in the mouth.. the syringe wasn't that painful.. anyway a while later, the right side of my mouth went numb.. basically I couldn't rinse properly (water tended to trickle down) and other stuff.. also during lunch was quite hard.. cause I ordered steak. The reason I ordered steak was so I could order it medium rare which would be nice and soft.. but somehow Jack's place steak sucks.. it was so tough that I had to chew, but since my right side was numb, I had to use only my left side, resulting in the left side also becoming numb.. haha.. That's sensation no.1
Sensation no.2 was having the dentist drill in my mouth. Thankfully it didn't hurt cause of the anesthesia.. haha..just feel the drill in the mouth but no pain or anything.. kinda alien sensation.. but oh well.. it really is painless dentistry..
Lessons learnt: Might be better to remove wisdom teeth cause they are harder to maintain (lots of small gaps and hard to reach) Don't order steak at Jack's Place. Don't eat steak after dental procedure. Don't drink lime juice when your gums are still sore. The list goes on..
