Vincent's 4 levels of Morale
For those who have done psychology or HR modules before, you all know of Maslow's Hierachy of needs. Well after working almost 6 months, Vincent and I have come to a new theory. Actually it's more his than mine. These are the 4 levels of working attitudes/different levels of morale.
1st Level. Being Super On and Enthusiastic - or Siao On. Going to work early, leaving really late, enjoying everything you do with a sense of glee.
2nd Level. Tolerance. Or Lun or Ren. Still going to work and going through the motions out of pure will power or obligation. Usually financial obligations.
3rd Level. Switch Off or Bo Chup. Go to work and zone out. Go to work late, leave early. Ignore deadlines.
4th Level. The most powerful. Take MC, go to work late, leave early, 2 hr lunch breaks. 1 hr tea break in the morning and 1 in the afternoon. Basically just sponging on the company till they realise that you're dead weight.
I think I'm in between 2nd and 3rd now.

Such shameless plugging...
Mediacorp has got to be one of the most shameless industries in Singapore. Been noticing this for a while while listening to the morning show on Class 95FM. Glen or FD will start reading articles off Today (which is partly if not wholly owned by Mediacorp) then start to praise how this is one of the best publications there is out there blah blah blah.. then they have that countdown thing about how many days to what not when Glen or FD will then shameless plug their latest show "The Dance Floor" and how great the show is and what not..
Seriously guys, if all these things were so great, you don't need to plug them. They'll sell themselves. The same way you guys have sold your souls to marketing...
On a similar note, on the way home today, Jean Danker got some sex maniac on the phone who said he loved her and wanted to have sex with her. Of course she then proceeds to play it for everyone to hear then say how distraught she is with the call and people come and support her and all. That's all good. Report the guy to the police. Arrest him. But stop playing the same soundclip of what the guy did... If you're so disturbed by it why do you keep airing it? Are you so hungry for attention? Wonder whatever happened to Rod though... hmm

Watching the world go by..
A new slogan I thought of while driving today. "If the car on the left of you is moving faster than you, you need to move faster." This is the concept people must get into their minds to reduce traffic jams. Sometimes traffic jams are caused by 1 goomba moving extremely slow. How do I know the goomba is moving extremely slow? Cause there's this vast empty space in front of the said goomba (goomba for the child of the 80's are the first foes that mario faces, for the purpose of this rant, goombas can be male or female). The goomba's thought processes go something like this "People are flashing their headlights at me, horning at me, but hey I'm going at the speed limit so I'll hog this right lane."
Ah goombas.. traffic would be so much smoother without you guys.. them and the locusts of the road.. but that's for another time.

The Future is Here!
Came across this article today. It's a 3D copier! It can make 3D duplicates of objects as long as it has the blueprints. http://www.newscientisttech.com/article/dn10922-desktop-fabricator-may-kickstart-home-revolution.html
Here's a video if it at work: http://web.mae.cornell.edu/ccsl/temp/EvanMalone/FabAtHome/SqueezeBulbDemoMovie.wmv
So many possibilities this device has.

How to stay awake at work?
I need help in this department quite badly now. Work these few days have been slow (there's stuff to do, but mainly is waiting for people) and I need to find a way to stay awake. Currently there are several methods that work:
1) Surf the net (bad cause later ppl see.. but then quite a few of my colleagues already do it)
2) Talk to people around me (kinda hard cause sometimes dunno what to talk about)
3) Day dream.
4) Don't fight it, just sleep. (Thankfully I dun snore)
5) Drink lots of water.
6) Walk around and look busy.
Anything else?

Welcome 2007, feels exactly like 2006.
Haven't blogged in exactly 1 week for 2 main reasons. Lazy and also wanted to see one week of the new year first. Honestly, I'm not impressed. Everything is same old same old. America is talking about what to do with Iraq still. North Korea is still posturing. Rumours of wars abound...
And yet through all this, there's still a faint glimmer of hope.
Happy 7th of Jan. (It's honestly as arbitiary as Happy New Year).
